DIRECTIONS

The Library is located in Middleburg, VA., about an hour west of Washington, D.C.The Library is located at 102 The Plains Road. The building sits at the corner of Route 50 (called Washington Street in town) and The Plains Road. The main entrance is accessed via The Plains Road.

Free parking is available in front of and behind the Library building.

From Washington, D.C.

Take Route 66 west out of Washington, D.C. Continue to the Route 50/Fair Oaks exit. Take Route 50 west. Continue approximately 20 miles until you reach Middleburg and pass through Middleburg's only traffic light. Continue until you see Southern States feed store, which sits on the left at the corner of Route 50 and The Plains Road. Just past the Southern States feed store, turn left onto The Plains Road. Continue about 50 yards and then turn right into the driveway for the National Sporting Library.

From Washington Dulles Airport (IAD)

At airport exit, follow signs for Rt. 28 south towards Centerville.Take Rt. 50 west towards Winchester, and follow directions above.

From the North or South via Route 15

Take Route 15 to Route 50. Take Route 50 west. Continue approximately 10 miles until you reach Middleburg. Follow remaining instructions as above.

From the West via I-81 and Route 50

From I-81, take exit 313 (Winchester) heading east on Rt. 17/50. In Paris,
Va., continue straight on Route 50 east (Rt. 17 will go off towards right) and following 50 all the way into Middleburg. Continue until you see the Southern States feed store, which sits on the right at the corner of Route 50 and The Plains Road. Just before the Southern States feed store, turn right onto The Plains Road. Continue about 50 yards and then turn right into the driveway for the National Sporting Library.

Public Transportation

There is no public transportation to and from Middleburg. The nearest Metro stop is the Vienna-Fairfax-GMU (Orange Line) station at 2900 Nutley St., Fairfax, VA 22031, about 23 miles from Middleburg. To get to the Vienna metro station, take 50 east for about 20 miles until you get to Interstate 66. Get onto I-66 headed east. Take the exit for Rt. 243 – Nutley St. and follow signs for Metro parking. At Vienna, there are 5,169 parking spaces in a garage and lot, and 71 short-term metered spaces. Parking can fill to capacity by 9 to 10 a.m. on weekdays. Parking at Metro stations is free on weekends, but costs money during the week ($4.50/day at Vienna), and you must purchase a SmarTrip card to pay the parking fee at parking lot exits (see http://www.wmata.com/fares/smartrip/index.cfm for more info.). There is no overnight parking at the Vienna metro.

Getting to Middleburg by Air

There are three airports serving the Baltimore/Washington Metropolitan area. Most online airfare search engines such as Expedia (www.expedia.com) will allow you to search for fares for the city code for Washington, D.C. (WAS), which includes all three Metro DC airports. The closest airport to Middleburg is Washington Dulles International (IAD), which is 23 miles east of Middleburg. Taxi fare from Washington Dulles International Airport to Middleburg is approximately $50 each way.
